Jim Donovan, Isambard's founder and principal, originally trained as an information systems engineer, then progressed through project management, sales, marketing and general management. As a CEO, he has led the transformation of several substantial technology-based companies, in sectors as diverse as electricity supply, IT services, and telecommunications equipment manufacturing. He has also advised major corporations in New Zealand, Australia and SE Asia on business strategy and performance improvement. He has planned and/or implemented acquisition and divestment transactions on both the buy and sell sides. He is frequently asked to present his ideas and experience of strategic thinking and business transformation to business groups and business schools, and his blog articles have attracted an international readership.
Jim Donovan is a professional director with experience in the public and private sectors, as well as industry bodies. His current non-executive board roles include Click Suite (chairman), the Institute of Directors, and the Tertiary Education Commission.
